Contracting – Sale & Purchase

The highlight this month has been the four LNG-carriers ordered by Bergesen d y for the Nigeria LNG contract. The USD 710 million order from Daewoo ranks as one of the greatest ever by a Scandinavian company. A P Møller has booked another three J-class container carriers from Stralsund and JO Tankers a 25,000 DWT chemical carrier from Japan. There is still a trickle of offshore-projects, including a seismic research vessel and a Canadian order.
Second-hand transactions include the acquisition of bulk-carriers by Scandinavian owners, with more deals under negotiation. Amongst the sales is Finland’s largest vessel, the Suezmax tanker Mastera, and a number of older units for breaking. The supply newbuildings were resold at a profit to the sellers.
