Contracting – Sale & Purchase

With a more optimistic outlook, investment projects are maturing for most types of vessels, with a particular come-back for bulk carriers. The four LNG-carriers for Bergesen must be the largest newbuilding order by Scandinavian owners for decades, secured by long-term contracts to Nigeria LNG. Even a Suezmax tanker was ordered against long-term employment, and Tärntank takes its third chemical tanker from China. Amongst the more unusual is a ro/ro-vessel designed for aircraft sections for Airbus, to be built for a French-Norwegian venture under French flag.
The second-hand market also reflects a wide variety of vessels, with the sale of Aalborg Portland fleet of cement vessels including a large CoA to Tordenskjold as the highlight. Bergesen finally picked up Wilhelmsen’s last VLCC (or rather VLOO) Tijuca.
